Fall break is behind us and we are moving into the next topic in UNIT 2. MOON PHASES! Hopefully the temperatures will soon reflect the season! Walk outside with your student each night and make observations about the moon and why it appears to change shape. Ask them questions about the relative positions of the Sun, Earth, and moon which causes these phases. Ask them what Waning (getting smaller/leaving) and Waxing (growing) means. :)
Lots to get done between now and Thanksgiving break. Things are moving quickly in science! We have been learning about scientific theories, galaxies, solar system, and objects in our solar system in Unit 1. Now it is time to review for the upcoming unit 1 test. Next week will be spent reviewing and getting prepared for the test which will be administered on Friday, 9/13 . Then we will be moving on to Unit 2 which is all about the relationship between the Earth and Moon. Our first topic will be seasons.
